QR codes & sharing

Getting your link off a screen and onto posters, merch tables and stories.

Every link has a QR code#

Open a link's stats page and the QR code is at the top, with a download for a larger version. It points at the link itself rather than a fixed address, so changing where the link goes, or moving to a custom domain, does not break codes already printed.

Printing it#

  1. 1 Download the large version The one on screen is sized for the dashboard. The download is made for print.
  2. 2 Keep it big enough About 2cm square is the practical minimum for a phone to read at arm's length. Bigger on a poster people scan from further away.
  3. 3 Leave white space around it Codes fail when artwork crowds the edges.
  4. 4 Say what it is "Scan to listen" under the code measurably beats a bare square.

Where these actually work#

Merch tables, gig posters, vinyl inserts, the back of a business card, and the screen behind you at a show. Anywhere a fan has their phone out and no way to type an address.

What fans see#

Every public page has share buttons for X, Facebook and WhatsApp, plus copy-link. Fans sharing your page rather than a raw Spotify link means their friends land somewhere that works for whatever service they use, and you get the analytics from it.

Tag what you print#

A QR code on a poster can carry a campaign tag like any other link, so scans show up separately from web traffic in your sources table. Generate the QR from a tagged address and you finally get to see whether the posters did anything. See Campaign tracking.
