Cookie policy
Last updated 21 July 2026. Every cookie we set, what it does, and how to change your choice.
The short version
We set a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site, such as keeping you logged in and stopping forged form posts. Those do not need consent and cannot be switched off.
Analytics and advertising are different, and how we treat them depends on where you are:
- In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland we ask first. Nothing beyond the necessary cookies runs until you press "Accept all". Choose "Necessary only" and no analytics cookie is written and no advertising pixel loads.
- Everywhere else analytics and the artist's advertising pixels are on by default, and you can turn them off whenever you want.
Either way you can change your mind at any time with the link, which also sits in the footer of every page. Choosing "Necessary only" there also works as an opt-out of sharing your data for advertising.
Turning analytics off does not stop an artist counting visits. We still record that the page was viewed, without writing a cookie and without linking it to you.
Strictly necessary
These are always on. They store no advertising identifiers and are not shared with anyone.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| .AspNetCore.Identity.Application | Keeps you signed in to your account | Session, or 14 days if you choose to stay logged in |
| .AspNetCore.Antiforgery.* | Blocks forged form submissions | Session |
| msl_consent | Remembers your cookie choice, so we stop asking | 6 months |
| msl_claim_* | Lets you claim a link you created without an account | 30 days |
| msl_gate_* | Remembers which steps of an artist's unlock you finished | 30 days |
| cf_clearance and similar | Cloudflare bot and security checks | Set by Cloudflare |
Analytics, only with consent
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| msl_v | A random visitor id so an artist can tell repeat visits from new ones. It holds no name, email or advertising id. | 1 year |
If you decline, we still count the page view in aggregate without writing a cookie or building any profile of you.
Advertising, only with consent
Artists on paid plans can add their own advertising pixels to their pages so they can measure their campaigns. When you accept, the pixels the artist configured are loaded, which may set cookies from those platforms and let them build an advertising profile. The platforms involved are Meta, TikTok, Google, Snapchat, Pinterest, X and LinkedIn.
We may also send conversion events to those platforms from our servers. Those are held to the same consent choice: decline, and no server-side event is sent for your visit either.
Each platform sets its own cookies under its own policy. Meta explains theirs at facebook.com/policy/cookies, and TikTok at tiktok.com/legal.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie settings link above or in the footer. You can also clear cookies in your browser, which resets the banner. Blocking all cookies in your browser will stop you being able to log in, because the sign-in cookie is one of the necessary ones.
More
How we use the data behind these cookies is set out in the privacy policy.
